Being a horse rider myself, and having competed... I can't even imagine the pain Eric Lamaze must be in. Losing a horse like this is like losing part of yourself... When you compete, when you ride, you and your horse become one, there's an invisible connection that only those who have tried it can understand. It's a relationship of trust, loyalty, friendship, it's something incredible. For this all my thoughts go to Mr Lamaze for his loss. He's not only lost a horse, he's lost a companion. But Hickstead will always be alive in his heart and in his memories. Hickstead was and will always be a Champion, and I'm sure that now he'll be jumping the stars and the moon.
